- After much difficulty getting Amiga OS 3.1 ROM's to work on my rev 8.9
- motherboard I finally got it working. Now I am having some odd boot
- problems with my Quantum 210 meg. HD. I hope someone might have some
- ideas.
-
- I used setbatt to make sure all my parameters are correct. With
- Timeout = Short the drive will not boot from a cold restart. Holding
- down both mouse buttons the setup screen shows only DF0 and DF1. If I
- then cancel the setup screen and hit the boot button the drive will
- then boot the system. Or I can boot off of a floppy and then do a
- warm reboot and everything works well.
-
- With Timeout = Long after power on there is a 9 -11 second wait and
- the booting proceeds normally off of the HD. If I hold down the
- mouse buttons in this scenario all drives are shown in the boot screen
- setup.
-
- I guess I can live with this slow boot but would like to know why it's
- happening. Never had a problem with spin up speed or anything with
- the drive. I doubt in fact it has anything to do with spin up speed
- for example if TIMEOUT=Short and I do a cold boot I get some immediate
- HD access followed by the INSERT DISK screen. I can press Ctrl-A-A
- forever and I still keep getting the INSERT DISK screen.
-
- Some other things, I have a SCSI tape drive external but it makes no
- difference if it is connected or not.
-
- Any ideas appreciated....
